Box Score Williamstown, Mass.- The Williams College Ephs handed the visiting Trinity College Bantams a 2-0 setback in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer opener for both teams this afternoon. Trinity drops to 1-1 overall, while the game was Williams' first of the fall.
Trinity came out of the gate looking very strong offensively, using quick and clean passes to establish themselves in Williams' half of the field but could not score. In the 13th minute, the Ephs took a corner and after a few seconds of scrambling around the net, junior forward Mark Sisco-Tolomeo gathered the ball and netted the first goal of the season for Williams. In the second stanza, Eph senior midfielder J.C. Bahr de Stefano played a through ball to classmate Mohammed Rashid, who deked a defender and slotted the ball past Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Mateo Zabala (Paterson, N.J.) for the second Eph goal.
The last third of the match saw consistent challenges from the Trinity attackers, with seven shots in the last 40 minutes. Williams goalie Christian Alcorn stopped an excellent look by Bantam freshman forward Henry Farr (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) in the 65th minute and a header from fellow rookie Michael Burns (Oreland, Pa.) in the 87th minute to preserve the shutout and finsih with three saves. Zabala had two stops for the Bantams.
