Box Score Beverly, Mass. - Freshman forward Henry Farr (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) scored his first ever collegiate goal in thrilling fashion, to give the Trinity College men's soccer team a 2-1 overtime victory on the road against the Endicott Gulls on Monday night in Massachusetts. With the win, Trinity improves to 2-3 overall while Endicott falls to 4-2-1 on the season.
Endicott managed 10 shots on goal for the evening but Bantam senior goalie Domenic Quade (Norwood, Mass.) turned aside nine of them to earn his second win of the season in net. Endicott goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) made three saves while allowing the pair of goals. The Gulls earned eight corner kicks in the second half but the Trinity defense held strong as the lone Endicott goal came off a free kick from about 28 yards out.
The Bantams lit up the scoreboard first in the 15th minute of the game thanks to a score from senior captain Tobias Gimand (Copenhagen, Denmark). Gimand collected a loose ball and streaked towards the net where he found himself one-on-one with Weinstein and powered it past the Gull netminder into the low corner of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 advantage.
Trinity remained ahead, 1-0, until late in the second half, when junior forward Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) connected on a free kick from almost 10 yards outside of the box which forced the game to overtime.
In the first extra session, not even a full two minutes went by before Farr put his head on a cross into the box off the foot of senior Fernando Cuervo-Torello (Arlington, Mass.) that snuck by Weinstein and sent the Bantams home victorious.
Trinity returns to action on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. when they return home to host Bates in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup on Family Weekend at Trinity.
