Hartford, Conn. - Trinity rookie Blake Crawley (Laguna Beach, Calif.) found the back of the net in the 72nd minute, the first goal of her career, to lift the Bantams to a 1-0 victory over the Bowdoin College Polar Bears in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action on Saturday morning in Hartford. Trinity, who honored the members of its senior class before the game, improves to 5-5-1 overall and 4-3 in conference action while Bowdoin falls to 6-3-1 on the year and 2-3-1. Trinity returns to action on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup down the road at Eastern Connecticut State.

Senior tri-captain Julia Pitino (Littleton, Mass.) picked up her second blank slate of the season after making five saves in net. Her counterpart, Bowdoin goalie Rachel Sout (Lakeville, Minn.), finished with five saves as well despite being saddled with the loss. The Bantams put six shots on net while Bowdoin sent five towards Pitino. 

Bowdoin sophomore Emma Beane (South Hamilton, Mass.) and Trinity rookie Samantha March (Glastonbury, Conn.) both put shots on net in the first ten minutes but neither resulted in a score. Both teams played an even-paced first half as the sides enter the half locked in a scoreless tie.

Trinity broke through at the 77:56 mark on Crawley's goal, assisted by sophomore Katie Marlow-Benedick (Weston, Mass.), allowing Crawley to convert her one and only shot on goal of the day into the game-winning score. Trinity's defense, led by seniors Sarah Connors (Winnetka, Ill.), Alexa Barbaresi (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Kristina Caradonna (Lynnfield, Mass.), played tough down the stretch as they held the Polar Bears to zero shots on goal in the final 20 minutes of the game.
