Leesburg, Fla. - After falling, 11-4, in game one against Smith College, the Trinity College softball team bounced back with a 10-7 victory against Endicott College in game two of a doubleheader in Leesburg, Florida on Thursday morning. Trinity moves to 6-2 overall after the split and faces Framingham State and Clarkson tomorrow morning in the team's final day down south.

Smith put up a three-spot in the top of the first inning in game one, highlighted by a two-run single by Alyssa Pioggia (East Longmeadow, Mass.). The Pioneers added a run in the top of the third thanks to an RBI-double to centerfield off the bat of Ally Snyder (Succasunna, N.J.) to open up a 4-0 lead.

The Bantam offense strung together 14 hits in the game but struggled to turn them into runs. Trinity ended the shutout in the top of the sixth when sophomore Courtney Erickson (Everett, Mass.) crossed the plate on a groundout by first-year Nikki Andersen (Dunbarton, N.H.). A single by junior Mandi Paine (Moultonborough, N.H.) scored first-year Meghan Golia (New Branford, Conn.) to cut Smith's lead to 5-2 after five.

The Pioneers put the game out of reach with a six-run top of the seventh inning to open up an 11-2 lead. Snyder ignited the rally with a two-run homerun while Ruth Zimmerman (Edison, N.J.) and Brittney Blokker (Seattle, Wash.) chipped in run-scoring doubles in the inning. Erickson blasted a two-run homerun that scored junior Katie Haghdan (Pelham, N.H.) in the bottom of the frame but it was not enough as Smith held on for the win.

Trinty jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning of game two when junior Erica Merullo (Lynnfield, Mass.) scored on a ground out by classmate Michelle Treglia (Fairfield, Conn.). Endicott came back with three runs of its own in the top of the second to take a 3-1 lead but the Bantams would answer.

First-year Natalie Bruno (Stratham, N.H.) brought home two runs on a single in the home half of the third before a single by Meghan Golia scored Bruno. Bruno came up big again in the fourth inning, connecting on a base-hit that scored Treglia and Merullo as the Bantams opened up a 8-3 advantage.

Bruno added her fourth and fifth RBI of the game in the fifth inning on another base hit to give Trinity a comfortable lead entering the stretch. Endicott chipped into Trinity's lead with a run in the sixth before adding three more in the seventh. Trinity starting pitcher Lindsay Golia (North Branford, Conn.), who picked up her fourth win of the season, gave way to junior Cassia Armstrong (Vancouver, B.C.) in the seventh who came on to strike out the only two batters she faced in her first appearance of the season.
