Trinity Men's Lacrosse Ends Lasell's Eight-Game Winning Streak With Home Victory

Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore attackman Ben Knaus (Ross, Calif.) scored a game-high six goals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 13-7 victory over the visiting Lasell College Lasers in men's lacrosse action this evening at Jessee/Miller Field.  Trinity improves to 4-9, snapping a two-game losing skid, while the Lasers fall to 8-3 with their first loss in nine games/

Trinity used a 4-0 run in the second and third quarters to turn a 3-3 tie into a 7-3 lead and gradually built on its lead from there.  Bantam rookie Ben Ferrucci (Essex, Conn.) scored the go-ahead goal just 35 seconds after the Lasers had tied it on a tally by sophomore Michael Susi (Gorham, Maine) who converted on the first of three assists by Lasell junior Austin Tomasetti (Elmsford, N.Y.) 1:07 into the second frame.  Sophomore attackman Troy Hanlon (New Vernon, N.J.) broke an 8:02 scoring drought with a goal at the 5:20 mark of the second that gave the Bantams a 5-3 lead at the break, and Knaus scored the first two goals of the third quarter to complete the run.

Tomasetti scored with 6:04 left in the third and followed up Knaus' fifth goal with an assist on a Laser tally by sophomore Ryan Madden (Hingham, Mass.) with 37 seconds on the clock to make the score, 8-5, in Trinity's favor entering the final session.  The Bantams broke the game open with five unanswered goals to start the fourth quarter, as first-year Matt Gardiner (Potomac, Md.) started the spurt 1:03 into the period and assisted Knaus on his career-best sixth goal of the game on another marker.  The Lasers scored twice in the final 4:04 to account for the 13-7 final score.

Knaus bested his previous career-high in goal by two, while Gardiner and junior midfielder John Caraviello (Wellesley, Mass.) also had multiple-point games with a goal and an assist apiece.  Sophomore Scott Morgan (Grand Rapids, Mich.) dominated the faceoff with 16 wins in 23 attempts and scooped seven ground balls, while senior tri-captain defenseman Aidan Keohane (Westwood, Mass.) had three caused turnovers, and junior goalie Woody Hamilton (Williamstown, Mass.) made nine saves in the Trinity goal.  Madden and sophomore Austin Shindoll (Denver, Colo.) scored twice for Lasell, while Connor Johnson (Hampstead, N.H.) recorded seven ground balls, and Jorge Salazar (Waltham, Mass.) made 20 saves.  Trinity doubled up Lasell with a 46-to-23 shooting edge.
