Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore Tricia Pollock (Beverly, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal just 40 seconds into the second half to lift the Trinity College women's soccer team past the Colby College Mules on Saturday in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action in Waterville, Maine. Trinity improves to 2-4-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play while Colby falls to 2-3-1 on the year and 0-3-1 in league play. Trinity returns to action on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup at Wheaton College.

Trinity won the shot battle, 10-5, and earned seven corner kicks on the day compared to just one by the hosts. Senior tri-captain goalie Julia Pitino (Littleton, Mass.) picked up her first clean-sheet of the fall, stopping two shots in the game while her counterpart, Colby goalie Dani Lonati (Franklin, Mass.), finished with three saves.

The Bantams nearly took the lead in the first half when they earned a penalty kick during the 37th minute. Senior Alexa Barbaresi (Newport Beach, Calif.) took the shot for Trinity but Lonati was there to come up with the clutch save to keep the game knotted at 0-0. 

Pollock's goal came within the first minute of the second half when rookie Samantha March (Glastonbury, Conn.) sent a cross from the right side to Pollock who knocked it down and controlled the ball. With Lonati coming out of the goal, the ball scooted past her and Pollock reached to kick the ball over the goal line for her first goal of the season which would stand as the difference.

Trinity's defense, led by Barbaresi, senior tri-captain Sarah Connors (Winnetka, Ill.) and sophomore Kelly Lucas (Ludlow, Mass.), gave a dominant effort as they held Colby to just two shots on net the entire game.
