Trinity Women's Lacrosse Pummels Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Junior Lily Ives (Chappaqua, N.Y.) had three goals and an assist to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 16-3 victory over the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds in women's lacrosse action this evening.  Trinity, ranked No. 19 in the nation, improves to 2-0 heading into its home opener on Saturday against New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rival Bates College.  Skidmore falls to 0-2.

Trinity outshot Skidmore, 40-15, and led, 5-0, after the first quarter.  Senior tri-captain Samantha Booma (Marblehead, Mass.) scored the first of the game unassisted during a player-up situation and the last of the first quarter, before adding another goal in the third frame to give Trinity two players with hat tricks.  Ives scored once in the second quarter and assisted on a second, and the Bantams led, 8-2, at the break.  Trinity Ellie Kirkpatrick (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) had a goal and an assist in the third quarter to propel the visitors to a 13-2 advantage at the final break.  Four Bantams scored their first career goals, including senior midfielder Mackenzie Rosenberg (North Attleboro, Mass.) in the first quarter.

Kirkpatrick finished with two goals and two assists, and senior defender Emma Alpaugh (Darien, Conn.) had game-highs of six caused turnovers and five ground balls.  Junior Elle Fair (Westport, Conn.) paced Trinity on the draw with six draw controls and senior tri-captain Gabriella Young (Raleigh, N.C.) made four saves.  The Bantams scored twice with a player advantage and forced 26 Thoroughbred turnovers.  Liv Kazanjian had 18 saves for Skidmore in three quarters of work in goal, including 13 in the first half alone. Bella Bruno, Lara Strunk, and Jillian Lockwood scored the Thoroughbred goals. Bruno also had an assist.
