WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. - Senior
Lilianna Khosrowshahi (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) and
Christine Taylor (Westport, Conn.) each had three goals and one assist to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 10-7 win over the Williams College Ephs in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's lacrosse action this afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 21 in the nation, wins its season opener and will play at Skidmore next on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Williams is now 0-1.
Khosrowshahi opened the scoring 3:18 into the game with a goal from senior tri-captain
Samantha Booma (Marblehead, Mass.). Grace Collier against for Williams with the first Eph tally of the season, but the Bantams scored four of the next five goals. Taylor scored unassisted with 3:01 remaining in the first quarter, and fed Khosrowshahi for another goal with 34 seconds on the clock. Collier scored again for th Ephs, but Trinity junior attacker
Lily Ives (Chappaqua, N.Y.) registered consecutive goals late in the first half. Abby Godwin scored for the home squad right before the break to make the score, 5-3, at halftime.
The Ephs made it a one-goal game with two early tallies in the third quarter but Trinity junior midfielder
Elle Fair (Westport, Conn.) scored the first goal of her career with 3:19 left in the third and Taylor scored again to push Trinity's lead back up to 8-5 after three periods. Godwin scored twice more for Williams in the final stanza, but Khosrowshahi completed her hat trick and sophomore
Caroline Lampert (Wayland, Mass.) also scored to keep the Bantam lead at two goals or more the entire fourth quarter. Ives finished with two goals and two assists to give Trinity three four-point scorers. Senior goalie
Gabriella Young (Raleigh, N.C.) made seven saves, while senior defender
Emma Alpaugh (Darien, Conn.) collected game-highs of eight ground balls and five caused turnovers, and sophomore
Casey Ward (Norwell, Mass.) contributed an assist, six ground balls, and three CT's.
