Hartford, Conn. - Freshman forward Paul Jaskot (Methuen,
Mass.) scored the game-winning goal 6:28 in to the third
period and sophomore Wesley Vesprini (Lexington,
Mass.) recorded a shutout in goal with 32 saves to lead
the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-0 win over the visiting Wesleyan
University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this evening at
Williams Rink. The Bantams improve to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in
the NESCAC with their sixth consecutive victory, while the
Cardinals drop to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the league with their
ninth loss in a row.
Trinity peppered Wesleyan senior goaltender Mike
Palladino (Litchfield, Conn.) with shots throughout the
game and finally scored the first goal of the game when Jaskot
flipped the puck in with his backhand on a rebound. Senior
Chris Powers (Lynnfield, Mass.) and sophomore
Adam Houli (Howell, N.J.) provided assists on the
clincher, while Bantam sophomore forward Justin Letizia
(Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) sealed the deal with an insurance
goal 10:48 into the final period. Palladino totaled 57 saves,
including 36 without allowing a goal over the first two frames and
21 stops in the final stanza.
