New London, Conn. - Sophomore center Molly McGlynn
(Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) and freshman guard Michelle
Royals (Torrington, Conn.) scored 19 points apiece to lead
the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 77-63 win over the
Connecticut College Camels in the New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball opener for both
teams this evening. Trinity improves to 13-1 overall, while
the Camels fall to 5-7.
McGlynn was 7-for-10 from the field and added a game-high 11
rebounds en route to a double-double. Royals converted
7-of-11 shots and was 2-for-5 from beyond the arc in the victory
for the Bantams. Junior forward Christine Card
(Waterbury, Conn.) and junior guard Tess Donie

who held a 44-to-31 advantage on the backboards. Connecticut
College freshman Jennifer Shinall (Redding Ridge,
Conn.) had 17 points and eight rebounds in the
setback. Junior Amy Towne (Stamford, Conn.)

line. Freshman Kim Horne (West Lebanon,

Shinall impressed the home crowd with a nifty conversion of a
three-pointer-and-one for a four point play with 8:25 to play, to
put the Camels on top 20-19. But McGlynn and Royals had 11
points apiece in the half and the visitors carried a 36-35 lead
into the break. In a game that featured 58 fouls, the Camels
converted 27-of-35 free throws to keep it close, shooting an
impressive 81% from the charity stripe in the second half.
Horne converted a pair of freebies with 6:49 to play to keep
Trinity's lead at two, in a 56-54 contest. The Bantams
responded though, using great ball movement and their transition
game to reel off a 10-to-0 run and build a 12-point lead. Royals
buried a three during the run and junior co-captain Claire
Arnstein (Hicksville, N.Y.) capped the rally with a field
goal at the 4:27 mark to make it a 66-54 game. The Camels got
no closer the rest of the way.
