Hartford, Conn. -  Junior Harper Cullen (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) scored four goals and senior Connor Hustava (St. Louis, Mo.) added three to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 12-8 win over the Connecticut College Camels in men's lacrosse action this afternoon.  Trinity starts off their year 1-0 with the season-opening win, while Connecticut College beings their year 0-1.

Trinity controlled offensive possession for the first half, but had just a one-goal advantage at the midway point after sophomore Kevin Looby (Kansas City, Mo.) came out of a timeout with 19 seconds left in the period and found the back of the net to put the Bantams on top, 5-4.  

The Camels opened the third period with a quick goal from junior Steve Dachille (Garden City, N.J.) and managed to take a 7-6 lead after back-to-back goals from sophomores Ryan Hayes (Darien, Conn.) and Mark Mangano (Basking Ridge, N.J.).  Trinity tied the game with under three minutes remaining in the third, but the Camels regained the lead with 36 seconds left in the period with a goal from freshman Wade Berry (East Lyme, Conn.).

Trinity opened the final period by taking a 9-8 lead after a quick goal from senior Thomas Rogers (Simsbury, Conn.).  The Bantams separated themselves with three straight goals to end the match, two from Hustava, and another from Cullen.  The defense did not allow a goal in the final period. 

Head Coach Jim Finlay used a lot of personnel on the roster, showing the depth of this year's team.

"We have a lot of unselfish guys, and that's what won this game for us," he said. 

Finlay has never faced a NESCAC opponent on opening day, and has never beat Connecticut College.

"They are a great team," Finlay said.  "We are fortunate to have played well."

Dachille scored four goals to lead the Camels offense.  Trinity goalkeeper, senior Graham Fadden (New Canaan, Conn.) made 18 saves, and junior goalkeeper Mark Moran (Greenwich, Conn.) made seven saves in net for the Camels.
