Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore guard Kaitlin
Ciarleglio (Waterbury, Conn.) had 17 points, eight
rebounds, six assists, and three blocks, leading her team in all
four categories, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 72-43 win
over the visiting Connecticut College Camels in New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball
action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity improves to 11-2
overall and 1-0 in the NESCAC with its eighth win in a row, while
the Camels fall to 7-6 overall and 0-1 in the league with its
second consecutive defeat.
Trinity held the Camels two field goals in 27 attempts in the
first half and forced them to miss 48 shots from the floor in the
game. Connecticut College finished with a 20 percent shooting
percentage from the field and made just five three-pointers in 28
tries. The Camels did not record a field goal from the 12-minute
mark of the first half to 15-minute mark of the second half, while
Trinity used a 9-0 run to turn a 12-11 lead with 11:32 left before
the half into a 20-11 advantage with 8:30 left before the break.
Trinity junior forward Rebecca Cohn (San Francisco,
Calif.) scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds,
including an 8-for-8 performance from the foul line, while senior
tri-captain center Christine Card (Waterbury,
Conn.) added 11 points, seven boards, and three steals.
Sophomore guard Jennifer Shinall (Redding, Conn.)
paced Connecticut College with 12 points and a game-high rebounds
to go with five assists.
