Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Cruises to 5-1 Win over Stonehill

Hartford, Conn. –  Five different Bantams scored as Trinity College earned its first win of the season over the Stonehill College Skyhawks in men's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink.  Trinity improves to 1-3 and Stonehill falls to 3-5 on the season.

Sophomore Michael Blake (Wakefield, Mass.) gave the Bantams a quick 1-0 lead 3:28 into the game, but Trinity would be held scoreless for the remainder of the period, despite peppering 16 shots on Stonehill senior goaltender Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass.) in the first.  Stonehill junior Jordan Fine (Walpole, Mass.) answered 1:17 into the second period, knotting the game at 1-1.  The Bantams ended that same period with an exclamation point, as junior Mike DeMayo (Seaford, N.Y.) would net the eventual game-winner with just over two minutes remaining in the period, and senior co-captain Jake Gaffey (North Hampton, N.H.) with add another with just a tenth of a second showing on the clock.

Trinity would add two more in the third, courtesy of sophomore Sebastian Kimmel (Chico, Calif.) and junior forward Sean McCarthy (Duxbury, Mass.).  Trinity sophomore Zachary Lombardi (Locust Valley, N.Y.) and freshman Larry Bero (Foxboro, Mass.) finished the game with two assists apiece.

Trinity freshman goaltender Ben Coulthard (South Windsor, Conn.) finished the game with 19 saves in his first collegiate start, while Chapdalaine made 32 stops in net for the Skyhawks.
