Trinity Men's Lacrosse Falls to Connecticut College in Season Opener

Hartford, Conn. –  Freshman Andrew Freedman (Sudbury, Mass.) scored four goals to lead the Connecticut College Camels men's lacrosse team to a 10-4 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Jessee-Miller Field.  Trinity starts their season 0-1, while the Camels begin their year with a 1-0 record.

Trinity senior co-captain Harper Cullen (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) got the scoring started with the lone goal of the first period, giving the Bantams an early lead.  The advantage would not last long for the Bantams, as Connecticut junior Eric Doran (Pennington, N.J.) answered midway through the second to knot the game at 1-1.  Camels sophomore Greg Demetriou (Lowell, Mass.) gave the Camels a 2-1 lead with a goal in late in the first half before a scoring surge in the second half.

Connecticut padded their lead, as senior Steve Daschille (Garden City, N.Y.) scored a goal in the opening eight seconds of the second half, as five additional goals would be tallied in the period.  With the score at 5-3 in favor of the Camels, Connecticut went on a 5-0 run, their second of the game, to seal the win.  Doran and Daschille finished with two goals apiece for the Camels, while Trinity senior Andrew Williamson (Sudbury, Mass.) added two goals for the Bantams.

Trinity sophomore G Peter Johnson (Riverside, Conn.) and Connecticut sophomore G Rob Moccia (Malvern, Penn.) collected eight and 19 saves, respectively, in net.
