Willimantic, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams scored
12 consecutive goals, the final seven of the first half and first
four of the second half, to defeat the Eastern Connecticut State
University Warriors in women's lacrosse action this
afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the nation, improves to
11-1 with its third consecutive victory, while the Warriots drop to
4-8.
Eight different Trinity players contributed at least one of the
12 straight goals and 11 players in the game had at least a goal or
assist. Junior midfielder Alison Urquhart (Redding,
Conn.) of Trinity had three goals and won five of seven
faceoffs, with junior attacker Caitlin Irvine (Westwood,
Mass.) and freshman Kaitlin Hildebrand (Berwyn,
Pa.) each won three draws. Freshman Haley
Thompson (Ipswich, Mass.) scored the first three
goals of her career for the Bantams. Five different players scored
a free-position goal for Trinity, which missed only one of those
shots in the match.
Eastern freshman goalie Nancy Ibrahim made eight saves, seven
coming when Trinity outshot Eastern 19-4 over the first 30 minutes.
Eastern had a 14-10 edge in shots in the second half, outscoring
the Bantams, 7-4, over the final 17 minutes. Sophomore Ashley
Prizio won four draws for Eastern and senior Taylor MacDonald won
five faceoffs and three draws. MacDonald and senior Courtney Bedocs
each had two goals for the Warriors.
