Hartford, Conn. – Senior tri-captain Sarah Remes
(Silver Spring, Md.) and junior Rachel Romanowsky
(Hampstead, N.H.) tallied three goals apiece to lead the
Trinity College Bantams over the Williams College Ephs in New
England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's
lacrosse action this afternoon on Sheppard Field. The
Bantams, ranked No. 4 in the nation, improve to 7-0 overall (4-0
NESCAC), while the Ephs, ranked No. 14 in the country, fall to 3-4
(1-3 NESCAC) on the season.
Less than a minute into the match, Romanowsky would pick up the
eventual game-winning goal, as Trinity would never look back from
there. Senior Jenn Calver (Barnard, Vt.) and
junior Caitlin Irvine (Westwood, Mass.) would add
to the Bantam lead before Williams senior Whitney Thayer
(Lancaster, Penn.) would answer for the Ephs.
Trinity would prevent Williams from coming back, responding to
Thayer's goal with four of their own – two apiece from
Remes and first-year Megan Leonhard (Summit,
N.J.).
Calver and Thayer each finished the game with two goals, while
first-year Sam Weinstein (Marblehead, Mass.) would
also tally two goals for the Ephs. Sophomore goalkeeper
Gina Dinallo (West Hartford, Conn.) made six saves
in net for the Bantams, while junior Julia Schreiber
(Cockeysville, Md.) would finish the game with ten stops
for the Ephs.
Trinity will visit Wesleyan on Wed., Apr. 7 for a 5 p.m. match
with the Cardinals, before heading back home to host the Tufts
University Jumbos at noon on Sat., Apr. 10.
