Clermont, Fla. – Senior co-captains
Rachel Romanowsky (Hampstead, N.H.) and
Alisen Urquhart (Reading, Conn.) scored three
goals apiece to lead the Trinity College Bantams over the Union
College Dutchwomen, 12-8, in women's lacrosse action this
morning at the National Training Center. Trinity, ranked No 6
in the nation, improves to 4-0 on the year, while No. 17-ranked
Union falls to 1-3. Trinity closes out their spring trip in
Florida with a game against New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) rival Colby on Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at
the National Training Center.
Trinity and Union were tied 1-1 early in the match before the
Bantams went on a 5-0 scoring run to build a 6-1 lead. Union
cut the lead to 6-3 with goals by senior captains Abby
Stohler (West Hartford, Conn.) and Kristen Joyce
(Longmeadow, Mass.). Union cut the Trinity lead to
8-6 by halftime, powered by three first half scores by Joyce, who
finished the game with four goals. Romanowsky also had four
assists.
Trinity distanced themselves further in the second half,
outscoring Union 4-2 in the period, all of which assisted by
Romanowsky. Junior Gina Dinallo (West Hartford,
Conn.) and sophomore Olivia Whitney (Danvers,
Mass.) split the game in net for the Bantams.
Whitney recorded five saves in the second half. Union junior
Alexis Deeb (Albany, N.Y.) made six saves in net
for the Dutchwomen.
