Lewiston, Maine - Sophomore attackman Rob Nogueras (Parkland, Fla.) whipped a turnaround shot into the net 45 seconds into the second overtime period to complete a comeback win for the visiting Trinity College Bantams over the Bates men's lacrosse team by a 6-5 score this afternoon in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action at snowy and windy Garcelon Field.  Trinity, which improves to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the NESCAC, trailed, 5-3, after three quarters by sophomores Steve Manning (Tyngsboro, Mass.)and Jeff Rautiola (Acton, Mass.) in the fourth quarter.

Bates, which falls to 4-8 overall and 1-7 in the league, held the Bantams to six goals on 43 shots. Trinity outshot Bates 43-28 overall, including 8-0 in the overtime periods and 32-12 after halftime. Freshman Charlie Kazarian was outstanding in net for Bates, making 15 saves and also collecting six ground balls.  Nogueras scored two goals and assisted on another for the Bantams, and sophomore midfielder Nick Shaheen (Williamsburg, Mass.) assisted on both of the Bantams' final two goals. Senior attacker Kevin Looby (Kansas City, Mo.) also scored. Sophomore T.J. Cholnoky (Grewnwich, Conn.) may have made the biggest difference in the game, winning 14 of 16 faceoffs, while junior Peter Johnson (Riverside, Conn.) made 11 saves in goal, and senior Luis Fernandez (Palm Beach, Fla.) collected six ground balls.

Charlie Clark caused four Trinity turnovers and also finished off a one-man coast-to-coast play with an unassisted goal that put Bates ahead 4-3 with 2:53 left in the third quarter. C.J. Schmidt made it 5-3 just 58 seconds later, Bates' second two-goal lead of the game.  Also scoring goals for the Bobcats were Will Gilkeson, Reed Brown and Kyle Starr. Kevin Helm scooped six ground balls and caused two turnovers.
