Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Alexa Pujol (New Canaan, Conn.) and the defensive
unit collected their third straight shutout in a 2-0 victory over
the visiting Colby College Mules in New England Small College
Athletics Conference (NESCAC) action today at Koeppel Community
Sports Center. Trinity improves to 10-7 overall and 6-4 in
the league with their seventh straight win, while the Mules drop to
4-12-2 overall and 1-10-1 in the league.
Trinity and Colby exchanged several shots in a scoreless two
periods, with Trinity holding a slight shot advantage, 22-20, in
the opening frames. Senior tri-captain Lindsey Weiner chose
an ideal time to score the first goal of her first collegiate
career, a clutch tie-breaker with 8:52 left in the game.
Riding momentum, the Bantams added another goal moments later, when
sophomore Abby Ostrom (Carlisle, Mass.) buried the
puck to give Trinity a 2-0 lead with 5:30 left in the
game.
Pujol and the Trinity defense have not allowed a goal in the
last 234:05 minutes on the ice, and have allowed just one goal in
their last five contests and seven in their last ten games.
Pujol stymied the Colby offense all game, making 28 stops, while
Colby sophomore goalkeeper Brianne Wheeler (Brussels,
Ontario) racked up 32 shots compared to two goals
allowed.
