Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Senior goaltender Jonathan La
Rose (Boyle, Alberta) made 25 saves to record a shutout,
as the visiting Amherst College Lord Jeffs downed the Trinity
College Bantams, 3-0, in New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this afternoon on
Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The
Bantams fall to 7-8-2 overall and 4-6-1 and see their unbeaten
streak end at five games, while the No. 7-ranked Lord Jeffs improve
to 14-3-1 overall and 11-1 in the league with their second triumph
in as many days.
Amherst sophomore forward Erik Hansen (Deephaven,
Minn.) scored the first and game-winning goal on a rebound
3:31 into the first period, off an initial shot by classmate
Brian Safstrom (Woodinville, Wash.). Junior
forward Nick Brunette (Chaska, Minn.) and
sophomore forward Ryan Edwards (Rochester, N.Y.)
added insurance goals in the second period for Amherst, and the
Lord Jeff defense limited Trinity to 25 shots on goal for the
game. Trinity sophomore backstop Ben Coulthard (South
Windsor, Conn.) had 31 saves.
