Box Score New London, Conn. - Senior captain forwards Chris Menard
(Burlington, Mass.) and Zachary Lombardi (Locust Valley, N.Y.)
scored two goals each to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantam
men's ice hockey team to a 6-0 blanking of the Connecticut
College Camels in a New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) game played at Dayton Arena this
afternoon. The Bantams improve to 1-0-1, while the Camels
fall to 0-2. Junior net-minder Benjamin Coulthard (South
Windsor, Conn.) made 33 saves en route to the shutout.
Connecticut College junior Mike Petchonka (Ridgefield, Conn.) had
31 saves for the hosts.
Trinity opened the scoring on the power play as Chris Menard
scored with assists coming from twin brother and fellow senior
captain Jeff Menard (Burlington, Mass.) and senior forward Jordan
So (Toronto, Ontario). Less than two minutes later at the 8:05
mark, sophomore forward Jackson Brewer (Newton, Mass.) induced a
Camel turnover and fed rookie forward Elie Vered (Ottawa, Canada)
for a goal at point-blank distance. With 4:48 remaining in the
first, the Bantams added a third goal in transition when Chris
Menard put the finishing touches on a pass from Jeff Menard at the
far post. The Bantams tacked on two more scored in the second
and one in the third to close out the onslaught. Trinity
out-shot the Camels 37-to-33 in the triumph and was 2-for-4 on the
power play.
