Box Score Bantams Hang on for Win Over Strong Colby Squad
Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams survived a
late run by the Colby College Mules to stay perfect with an 11-9
win in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
women's lacrosse action this afternoon on Sheppard
Field. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the nation, improves to 8-0
with its 22nd consecutive regular-season victory, while
the Mules suffer their first loss of the season, dropping to 8-1
overall.
The Bantams led 10-7 with 11:52 remaining in regulation before
Colby scored back-to-back goals, from junior Kate Pistel
(Amherst, Mass.) and sophomore Lindsey McKenna
(Fairfield, Conn.), to cut the Trinity lead to 10-9.
With 5:01 showing on the clock, senior midfielder
Megan Leonhard (Summit, N.J.) came up with the
biggest goal of the day, putting Trinity up 11-9, as the Bantam
defense kept the Colby offense quiet over the remainder of the
game.
Pistel and McKenna each netted a hat trick for the Mules, while
Trinity senior attacker Hadley Duncan (Rye, N.Y.)
matched with three goals of her own, and Leonhard and senior
co-captain midfielder Liz Bruno (Andover, Mass.)
added two apiece for the Bantams. Junior Olivia
Whitney (Danvers, Mass.) made four saves to earn the win
in net for Trinity.
