Box Score

Amherst, Mass. - Three Jeffs scored in double figures to lead the fourth-ranked Amherst women's basketball team to a 67-47 victory over Trinity at LeFrak Gymnasium.

Extending their win streak over Trinity to eight, Amherst remained unbeaten at 19-0 (6-0 NESCAC), while the Bantams fell to 13-6 (4-2 NESCAC) on the year.

Savannah Holness '15 and Marcia Voigt '13 each netted 13 points, with Holness also adding seven rebounds, three steals and a career-high three assists. Megan Robertson '15 had another big game, filling up the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds and six blocks, while Cheyenne Pritchard '16 chipped in with nine points.

Junior Taylor Murtaugh (New York, N.Y.) was the lone Bantam in double figures with 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, while classmates Hannah Brinkley (Melrose, Mass.) and Emily Dixon (Norwood, Mass.) each had six.

Racing out to a fast start, Amherst took a 10-0 lead on a Jasmine Hardy '13 triple less than three minutes after the opening tip. A pair of Murtaugh free throws at 16:25 put Trinity on the board before Brinkley recorded the visitors' first field goal on the Bantams' next possession.

Answering with a 10-2 run, the Jeffs went back up 14, getting four points from Robertson and a pair of Haley Zwecker '16 and Pritchard triples during the stretch. A Murtaugh jumper with 7:41 left in the first trimmed the deficit to 22-12, but Amherst closed out the half on an 18-8 run, building a 20-point lead at the intermission.

Netting the first four points of the second half, the Bantams pulled within 38-22 on a jumper by junior Moriah Sweeney (Ramsey, N.J.) at 18:33 before Pritchard logged the Jeffs' first field goal of the frame with her third trey of the afternoon. Continuing to chip away, Trinity got the lead down to 15 on a layup by sophomore Allison Sullivan (Berlin, Conn.) with under 13 and a half to go, but Amherst scored eight of the game's next 11 points, going back up 20 on a Voigt three-pointer.

Responding with a triple on the other end, rookie Christina Raiti (Plainview, N.Y.) started a 12-4 rally over the next 4:16 as the visitors pulled back within 12. Hoping to put the game out of reach, Hardy drained a three-pointer before a pair of Voigt free throws bookended by five-consecutive Virginia Hassell '16 points gave Amherst its largest lead.

Shooting 46.9 percent (23-for-49) from the floor, the Jeffs were hot from beyond the arc, hitting 68.8 percent (11-for-16) of its attempts.  Trinity outrebounded Amherst, 33-29 - the first time this season that the Lord Jeffs have been outrebounded.
