New London, Conn. - Sophomore forward Ethan Holdaway
(Glastonbury, Conn.) scored two goals to lead the visiting Trinity
College Bantams to a 7-2 victory over the Connecticut College
Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
men's ice hockey action this evening. Both teams were playing
their season openers, and the Bantams scored the first three goals
and led, 3-1, after two periods before scoring four in a row in a
4:42 span in the third frame.
Holdaway opened the scoring 8:08 into the game from senior
captain defenseman Michael Flynn (Cheshire, Conn.) and senior
forward Liam McKillop (New York, N.Y.), and sophomore forward Ryan
Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) added an unassisted tally 11:54 into the
first. Trinity rookies Tyler Whitney (Wakefield, Mass.)
netted his first career tally just 30 seconds after the first
intermission, before Joe Giordano scored the first Camel goal of
the season 7:10 into the middle period.
Trinity sophomore forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) started
the 4-0 run from senior forward Jackson Brewer (Newton, Mass.) and
junior forward Michael Hawkrig (Toronto, Ontario) 7:34 into the
third period. Hawkrigg finished with two assists, while Cole
and Orlando had a goal and an assist apiece. Bantam junior
Nathaniel Heilbron (West Vancouver, British Columbia) made 32
saves, while Tom Conlin and Tim Cooney combined for 28 Camel
stops.
