Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams completed the women's basketball regular season with a 65-50 win over the visiting Middlebury College Panthers this evening on Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium, finishing with a best-ever New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) record at 7-3 and earning the program's first home game in the conference tournament next weekend.  Trinity, which finished with its best overall record at 15-8 since 2008-09 (16-7), received 20 points and 13 boards from senior forward Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.).  Middlebury, which ends its season Sunday at Amherst, drops to 7-16 overall and 1-8 in the NESCAC.

In the first half, Middlebury scored seven of the game's first nine points including a three-pointer and a lay-up from Sarah Marcus. The Bantams used an 11-1 run to grab an 18-12 edge on a jumper from sophomore guard Christina Raiti (Plainview, N.Y.). Leading, 22-19, with 5:32 on the clock, Trinity outscored Middlebury, 13-6, into the break, as Brickley scored six of the 13 to lead all scorers at intermission with 11 points.

Out of the locker room, Trinity led 42-32 with 17:21 left on a lay-up from senior forward Shantel Hanniford (Nantucket, Mass.), before Middlebury responded with a 6-0 spurt covering 2:20 of action and pulled to within four at 42-38 on a lay-up by Elizabeth Knox. The Bantams went on a decisive 10-0 run over the ensuing 2:13, sparked by six points from sophomore center Mackenzie Griffin (Stamford, Conn.) and never looked back.  Trinity led by as many as 21 points late, and sat down its six seniors for the closing moments of their final regular season game.

10 different Bantams scored, as Raiti had the second-leading Bantam point total with eight off the bench.  Hanniford had seven points and 10 rebounds, while senior guard Moriah Sweeney (Ramsey, N.J.) contributed six points, six rebounds, and five assists.  Marcus paced the Panthers with 10 points.
