This Week: The Trinity College men's ice hockey team went 2-0 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) road action last weekend. Behind strong play between the pipes, the Bantams scored a 2-1 overtime victory at Middlebury and potted a pair of late markers in the third period en route to a 3-1 triumph versus nationally ranked Williams. This weekend, Trinity returns home for a two-game conference homestand as Bowdoin and Colby come to Connecticut's capital city.

Earlier This Year Versus the Polar Bears: Trinity scored two goals late in the first period and goaltender Nathaniel Heilbron made 33 saves as the Bantams defeated Bowdoin, 2-1, on the road. Michael Flynn netted the eventual game winner on a slap shot from the point with one minute remaining in the opening stanza.

Earlier this Season Against the Mules: Sophomore forward Ryan Cole and junior forward Michael Hawkrigg each registered three points apiece to lead the Bantams to a 6-3 win at Colby. In the contest, Flynn recorded pair of assists and Jackson Brewer also had a multi-point game with a tally and a helper for Trinity.
Game Notes:
- Trinity moved up to No. 5 in the latest D3hockey.com poll and the Bantams remained No. 4 in the most recent USCHO.com poll. Trinity's two setbacks this season have both come versus nationally ranked opponents. The Bantams also received one first-place vote in the USCHO.com poll.
- Junior netminder Nathaniel Heilbron had a stellar weekend between the pipes, recording a .972 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average as Trinity went 2-0 in conference play. He opened the weekend with a 33-save performance in a 2-1 overtime triumph at Middlebury. In the finale, Heilbron turned aside 38 shots as the Bantams topped Williams, 3-1, on the road. For his strong performances, Heilbron became the second Bantam this winter to earn NESCAC Player of the Week honors. He currently leads the conference in save percentage (.934) and goals-against average (1.91).
- Through 20 games, the Bantams have scored 85 goals to lead the league and rank seventh in the nation in scoring offense (4.25 goals per game) after exploding for six or more goals in seven victories this season. Trinity is also tops in the NESCAC and fourth in the country in scoring defense surrendering 1.85 goals per tilts. The team leads the NESCAC and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring margin at 2.40.
-Two weeks ago, Michael Hawkrigg became the first member of the Bantams to earn NESCAC weekly honors as he was tabbed the conference's Player of the Week after registering four points on a goal and three assists as the Bantams pushed their win streak to ten games. Hawkrigg ranks third on the team with 24 points as the third-year skater has tallied eight goals and added 16 assists.
- Senior tri-captain Jackson Brewer leads the team in points (26) and assists (20). The 20 helpers and 26 points also lead the conference. Brewer has potted six markers this season as four of those have come on the power play.
- Sophomore forwards Ryan Cole and Sean Orlando are second and fourth on the team in points with 25 and 20, respectively. Orlando and Cole are tied for team lead with 11 goals and Orlando leads the league and the nation in power-play goals with eight. Cole has a team-high 18 points in conference play.
- Trinity's depth is shown in their third-period scoring margin. In the final 20 minutes this season, the Bantams have outscored their opponents, 32-13. Trinity has also done a good job scoring early, netting 28 goals and allowing just 10 during the first period.
- The Bantams have converted 23-of-85 power-play opportunities and Trinity has killed 55-of-65 penalties this season. The Bantams penalty kill is the best in the NESCAC and the power play ranks second in the conference.
