Trinity Women's Lacrosse Downs Dickinson For Fifth Victory In A Row

Box Score

Carlisle, Pa. - Junior midfielder Martha Griffin (Exeter, N.H.) collected five goals, four ground balls, and four draw controls to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 14-7 win over the Dickinson College Red Devils in women's lacrosse action this afternoon at Biddle Field.  Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the nation, improves to 5-1 with its fifth consecutive victory, while No. 18-ranked Dickinson drops to 3-1.

The Bantams jumped out to an early lead scoring 2:10 into the contest. Senior attacker Molly Cox (Norwell, Mass.) scored off an assist from junior attacker Abby McQuillan (Medfield, Mass.) before Griffin tallied her first, just a minute later.  The Red Devils answered to pull even as senior Carly O'Brien found junior Jennifer Morrissey and then scored unassisted to tie the game, with 25:38 remaining in the half.  Trinity strung together three straight goals before sophomore Maddy Siebold and Morrissey sandwiched a pair goals around another tally from Cox to make the score, 6-4, with just over 11 minutes to play.  Griffin struck twice, around a goal from senior tri-captain midfielder Caroline Hayes (Greenland, N.H.) to give the Bantams a 9-4 advantage at the break.

Dickinson came out of halftime and scored two quick goals to cut the deficit to 9-6, just 3:44 into the second half. O'Brien dished off an assist to Kelly Haglund and Siebold converted a free position for her second goal of the day.  Trinity countered with another Cox goal that was answered by Dickinson's Caroline Clancy with just over 20 minutes to play in the game, but the Bantams finished with a 4-0 run. Hayes handed out two more assists and Griffin closed out the scoring with a nice dodge to the cage for the final of 14-7.

Griffin led all scorers with five goals while Cox added a hat-trick and Hayes tallied three assists to go with a goal. Junior Emily Mooney (New York, N.Y.) finished with four saves, while sophomore Clare Lyne (Concord, Mass.) contributed one goal, two assists, and six draw controls, and classmate Kathryn DeLillio (Wilmington, Del.) paced the Bantam defense with four caused turnovers. O'Brien led the Red Devils with a goal and three assists. Siebold and Morrissey each scored twice.  JoJo Auerbach played well in goal in the first half, making nine saves.
