Box Score Clinton, N.Y. - Sophomore Ben Ferrucci (Essex, Conn.) scored three goals, including the game-winner in the second half, to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 14-12 victory over the Hamilton College Continentals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Steuben Field. Trinity improves to 8-3 overall and 3-3 in the NESCAC with its fourth win in a row, while the Continentals fall to 3-6 overall and 1-6 in the league with their fourth setback in a row. Trinity will visit No. 6-ranked Wesleyan on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., while Hamilton plays at Vassar on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
With the game tied at 9-9, Ferrucci scored the go-ahead goal with 7:49 left in the third quarter, igniting a 3-0 Bantam run over 3:02. Trinity sophomore attacker Drew Kozub (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored from senior middie Scott Morgan (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) off the ensuing faceoff, and rookie Connor McCullough (Alexandria, Va.) converted on a feed by senior captain John Caraviello (Wellesley, Mass.) with 4:47 on the clock to give the Bantams a 12-9 advantage. The teams traded goals twice the rest of the third frame, and a Continental tally by Chris Conley was the lone goal of the fourth quarter.
In the first half, Ferrucci scored two of Trinity's six goals to put the visitors ahead, 6-4, with 11:42 remaining in the second quarter, but Hamilton's Henry Hunt scored twice in the final 4:22 before intermission to tie it at 6-all. Hunt scored again from Chad Morse 3:11 into the third quarter, but Morgan and Caraviello tied the game at 7-7 and 8-8, respectively, over the next two minutes, before Caraviello completed his hat trick and gave the Bantams a 9-8 lead with 9:07 on the clock. Conley fed Charlie Ratner for the Continentals to tie the game for the final time with 8:16 left in the third.
Kozub and rookie Kevin Edmonds (Fairfield, Conn.) scored twice to give Trinity four multiple-goal scorers. Morgan was 14-for-25 on faceoffs and added two goals, one assist, and seven ground balls, while Brady Burke (Duxbury, Mass.) made 14 saves in the Trinity goal. Max Scheidl had eight stops for Hamilton. Trinity senior LSM Alex Notman (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) scooped four ground balls, while Caraviello, McCulloch, and junior Will Hay (New York, N.Y.) added three apiece.
