Hartford, Conn. - Freshman Celia Colman-McGaw
(Manchester, Conn.) scored with just 19 seconds remaining
on the clock to give the Trinity College Bantams a comeback 2-1 win
over the Hamilton College Continentals in New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action tonight at
Williams Rink. Trinity improves to 3-2 with the win, while
Hamilton drops to 1-2 on the young season.
In a very evenly matched game, it took until midway through the
second period for either team to find the net. Hamilton
sophomore Christie Sharlow (Potsdam, N.Y.) gave
the Continentals a 1-0 advantage with a goal 9:37 into the second
period. It didn't take long for the Bantams to answer,
getting a game-tying goal from freshman Dominique Di Dia
(Studio City, Calif.).
In a back-and-fourth third period, it took until the game's final
seconds for the Bantams to take their first lead of the game, when
Colman-McGaw took advantage of an opportunity in front of the net,
slipping the puck past the glove of Hamilton junior goalkeeper
Meghan Shine (Duxbury, Mass.), who had been steady
all night in net. Shine finished with 24 saves, while Trinity
junior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.)
collected 21 stops for the win.
The Bantams have a break in action until Monday, January 5 at 3
p.m. when they will participate in the Codfish Bowl Tournament at
Mass.-Boston.
