Hartford, Conn. - Senior Michelle Chee (San Francisco,
Calif.) scored midway through the final period to give the
Trinity College Bantams a 3-2 win over the Hamilton College
Continentals in New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this afternoon at Williams
Rink. Trinity improves to 4-2 with the win, while Hamilton
drops to 4-4 on the year.
Mirroring last night's match, in which Trinity came back for a 2-1
win in the game's final minute, Hamilton was first to strike,
taking a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by sophomore
Stephanie Miguel (Maple, Ontario), her team-high
sixth of the season.
Trinity answered in the second period, tying the game on a goal by
junior Britney McKenna (Rye, N.H.), however the
Continentals would regain the lead just 1:22 later when Miguel
would find the back of the net for the second time on the
afternoon.
With the game in favor of the Continentals 2-1, the Bantams were
able to capitalize on one of their 42 shots when sophomore
Alexa Guglielmi (Rocky Hill, Conn.) managed to
place the puck perfectly in the top right corner of the net, just
out of the reach of Hamilton junior goalkeeper Meghan Shine
(Duxbury, Mass.).
With just over ten minutes remaining in the game and the Bantams
playing with a two-man advantage, Chee delivered what would be the
eventual game-winning goal, giving Trinity their second comeback
win over the Continentals in as many nights, both games being
decided in the final period.
Shine didn't make it easy on the Bantam offense, racking up 39
saves, while Trinity junior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw (New
York, N.Y.) did her part for the Bantams, blocking 25
attempts by the Continentals for the win.
The Bantams have a break in action until Monday, January 5 at 3
p.m. when they will participate in the Codfish Bowl Tournament at
Mass.-Boston.
