Amherst, Mass. - Junior co-captain Kristen Anderson
(West Haven, Conn.) totaled 15 kills and 17 assists to
lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 victory over the Bowdoin
College Polar Bears in the New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) volleyball season finale for both
teams this afternoon at Amherst College. Trinity,
ranked No. 15 among over 70 Division III teams in the New England
region, finishes at 13-9 overall and 6-4 in the NESCAC with its
second win in as many days, while the Jumbos, ranked No. 13 in New
England, closes the regular campaign at 19-10
overall and 5-5 in the league. The Bantams finished tied
with Amherst for fifth place in the NESCAC Final Standings, but
drop to the No. 6 seed the NESCAC Championship Tournament due to
its regular season loss to the Lord Jeffs. The Bantams will
play No. 3-seeded Connecticut College in the NESCAC Quarterfinals
at Tufts on Friday, Nov. 6 and the NESCAC Semifinals and
Finals will take place Nov. 7 and 8.
The first three sets were closely contested with Trinity winning
the first and third by identical scores of 25-23 and the Polar
Bears taking the second, 26-24, before the Bantams secured the
match with a 25-19 triumph in the fourth set. Trinity
sophomore L Alexandra Pell (San Diego,
Calif.) totaled 19 digs and did not have an error in 43
reception attempts, while sophomore S Jennifer Low
(San Francisco, Calif.) added 14 digs and 23
assists, and sophomore MH Courtney Chaloff (Chestnut Hill,
Mass.) had six blocks and six kills.
