New London, Conn. - Junior netminder Isabel Iwachiw (New
York, N.Y.) stopped 32 shots to lead the visiting Trinity
College Bantams to a 3-1 victory over the Connecticut College
Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
women's ice hockey action this evening. Trinity improves to
11-6-2 overall and 6-4-1 in the NESCAC with its second win in a
row, while the Camels fall to 6-9-3 overall and 5-4-2 in the league
with their first loss in five games. The Camels and Bantams
will play their second game of the two-game series tomorrow
afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in New London.
Sophomore defender Laura Komarek (Plymouth,
Minn.), freshman forward Hannah Harvey
(Silverthrone, Colo.) and junior forward Britney
McKenna (Rye, N.Y.) each contributed scores in the triumph
for the visitors. Freshman blueliner Domi Di Dia
(Studio City, Calif.) added two assists for the winning
side. Connecticut College junior Rachel Lindmark
(Andover, Mass.) scored from Courtney Smith
(Framingham, Mass.) and Lauren Mellen (Joliet,
Ill.) accounted for 30 saves in the contest.
Trailing 1-0 in the first, the Camels broke through on
Lindmark's tally with 5:11 remaining in the frame. In the
second period, the Bantams took the lead for good. Hannah Harvey
and senior co-captain forward Michelle Chee (San Francisco,
Calif.) gained the offensive zone in a 2-on-1
situation. Harvey found the back of the net with a low shot
from point blank range to make it a 2-1 game. McKenna added
an insurance goal on the power play with 10:48 remaining in
regulation.
