Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore goalkeeper Gina
DiNallo (West Hartford, Conn.) made eight saves including
several athletic stops to combine with the defense to shut down the
No. 11-ranked Middlebury College Panthers, and lead the No.
15-ranked Trinity College Bantams to a 2-0 win on Robin Sheppard
Field this afternoon in New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action. Trinity improves to
4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league with their fourth consecutive
victory, and their first over Middlebury since 1999, snapping a 13
game skid against the Panthers, who fall to 1-2 and 0-2 in the
league.
Junior forward Robyn Williams (Bulawayo,
Zimbabwe) struck first for the Bantams, burying a hard
shot above the shoulder of Middlebury first-year goalkeeper
Medeline Brooks (Clayton, Mo.) on a penalty stroke
to give the Bantams a 1-0 lead. Junior Christy
Bradley (Wellesley, Mass.) added another score in the
second half and the defense took care of the rest, as no other
goals would be scored in the contest. Bradley and Williams
have combined to score 13 of Trinity's 16 goals on the season.
DiNallo earns her first shutout of the season and the fifth of
her career with her outstanding performance in net for the Bantams,
while Brooks made 11 stops for the Panthers.
