Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore forward Hannah Harvey
(Silverthorne, Colo.) scored two goals to give the Trinity
College Bantams a 4-1 victory over the visiting Bowdoin College
Polar Bears in New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this evening at
Williams
Rink. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the nation, improves to
13-1-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the NESCAC with its 10th win in a row
and their second win against Bowdoin in three weeks, while the
Polar Bears drop to 7-7-2 overall and 5-3-1 in the league with
their first loss in three games. Trinity blanked Bowdoin on
Jan. 2 in the opening round of the Codfish Bowl Tournament in
Boston.
Trinity bombarded Bowdoin freshman goaltender Kayla
Lessard (Enfield, Conn.) with 17 shots in the first
period, resulting in a 3-0 lead at the first intermission, and
never looked back. Harvey scored the first goal of the game
9:52 into the contest from junior forward Sarah Kohn
(Winchester, Mass.). Senior defender Hadley
Gleason (Boston, Mass.) beat Lessard top shelf with five
minutes left in the first frame, and sophomore forward
Celia Colman-McGaw (Manchester, Conn.) netted the
third goal on a rebound of a shot by junior forward Jill
Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.) 2:34 later.
Bowdoin senior tri-captain Shana Nelson (Taos,
N.M.) got the Polar Bears on the board five minutes into
the second period during a 6-on-4 situation for the visitors with
sophomore forward Dominique Lozzi (Reading, Mass.)
providing the assist. Trinity answered midway through the
second on Harvey's second tally. Lessard and Trinity senior
tri-captain Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) kept
both teams scoreless the rest of the way in the nets. Lessard
finished with 35 saves and Iwachiw had 22 stops.
