Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore forward Jon Pike
(Exeter, N.H.) scored 20 points and added six rebounds and
two blocks to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 66-56 win over
the Regis College Pride in men's basketball action on Stan Ogrodnik
Court at Oosting Gymnasium tonight. Trinity improves to 9-8
overall while the Pride fall to 8-9.
Trinity held a lead for the majority of the first half, but
Regis was able to keep within striking distance, and eventually
take a 41-40 lead on a bucket by senior guard James Cooper
(Philadelphia, Penn.). With ten minutes to play in
the game, Trinity freshman guard Cameron Sutton (Queens,
N.Y.) was able to regain the lead for the Bantams with a
steal and basket that would spark a 7-0 Trinity run.
Regis trailed by eight points with just under two minutes
remaining in the game, but Sutton would go 4-4 from the charity
stripe on the ensuing two Trinity possessions after Regis was
unable to convert on the offensive end. Sutton finished the
game with 10 points. Pike's 16-point performance is his
second consecutive after scoring 16 against Amherst on Saturday
night.
