Hartford, Conn. – Junior tri-captain forward Luke
MacDougall (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had 15 points, 10
rebounds, and four assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to
an 88-75 win over the visiting Albertus Magnus College Falcons in
men's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.
Trinity evens its record at 5-5 with its first win in three games,
while the Falcons fall to 6-2 with their first loss in four games.
Trailing 62-58 midway through the second half, Trinity scored
eight straight points to take a 66-62 lead with seven minutes left
and outscored the Falcons, 22-13 from that point on. Junior guard
Brian Ford (Bronx, N.Y.) connected on a
three-pointer from the right side to tie the game at 62-62 and
sophomore tri-captain guard Salah Abdo (Chelsea,
Mass.) scored the go-ahead bucket on a coast-to-coast
drive. After the teams made 12 free throws apiece in the first
half, the Bantams held a 19-3 edge from the foul line in the second
half on 25 attempts.
Abdo added 14 points, four rebounds, and three steals, while
classmate Jon Pike (Exeter, N.H.) notched 13
points and seven boards, junior guard Ian Fels (Miami,
Fla.) scored 11 points, and Ford had 10 points. Albertus
sophomore forward Ray Askew (Hamden, Conn.) led
all scorers with 22 points and added 10 rebounds, while senior
guard Sha'Ron Young (New Haven, Conn.)
scored 15 points, and sophomore guard Byron Reaves (Hamden,
Conn.) recorded 14 points. Junior guard Walden St.
Juste (Hartford, Conn.) added 14 points and freshman
forward David Armstrong (Bridgeport, Conn.)
grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and blocked three shots for the
Falcons.
