Hartford, Conn. – Senior S Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale,
N.J.) distributed 47 assists and added nine digs to lead the
visiting Connecticut College Camels to a 3-2 victory over the
Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action this afternoon.
Trinity, ranked No. 10 in New England, falls to 10-5 overall and
2-4 in the NESCAC with its fourth straight defeat against the
Camels, while Connecticut College, ranked No. 5 in the region,
improves to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the league with its third
victory in a row.
Trinity started off strong, taking a 9-1 lead en route to a
25-12 win in the first set, but the Camels rebounded to take a
close second set, 25-23 and return the favor with a 25-12 triumph
in the third set. Trinity came back with a 25-18 win in the
fourth set, but was outlasted by the visitors, 15-12, in the fifth
set.
Freshman OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) had 15 kills and 14
digs for the Bantams, while junior tri-captain L Sarah Blagden
(Charleston, S.C.) added 30 digs and three aces, and sophomore OH
Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) contributed a team-high 16
kills, eight digs, and three blocks. Junior MH Courtney
Chaloff (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) had six blocks and junior S Jen Low
(San Francisco, Calif.) notched 40 assists and 15 digs for the
Bantams.
Connecticut College junior Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.)
buried 25 kills, including three of the Camels four final points in
the fifth set, and added four blocks in the triumph. Molly Barrett
(Medfield, Mass.) posted seven blocks and six kills for the winning
side, while Katie Shragge (San Diego, Calif.) registered four
blocks, and Ally Terlizzi (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) finished with 13
digs.
