Trinity Women's Soccer Suffers First Loss In OT Against No. 14 Williams

Hartford, Conn. –  Junior forward Brett Eisenhart (Seattle, Wash.) scored the game-winning goal from classmate Nicole Stenquist (Hudson, Mass.) to lead the visiting Williams College Ephs to a 2-1 win in overtime against the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 10 in New England, loses its first game of the year, falling to 4-1-3 overall and 3-1-2 in the league, while the Ephs, ranked No. 2 in New England and No. 14 in the nation, improves to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the league.

In the 93rd minute, Eisenhart took a pass from Stenquist in the box that sailed over the Trinity defense, and settled the ball with her foot and the middle of her arm, before poking it past Trinity senior goalkeeper Emily Weedon (Wellesley, Mass.) to give the game to the visitors.  Trinity had tied it with 10:01 remaining in regular play, when junior forward Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) scored from the right wing on a rebound after sophomore back Stefanie Griglak (San Diego, Calif.) had shot the ball on a direct kick from the upper right corner of the box that was saved by Williams senior goalie Julia Schreiber (Cockeysville, Md.).

After a scoreless first half with scarce scoring chances for either side, the Ephs ended the drought at the 51:59 mark when senior tri-captain Sara Wild (Portland, Oregon) blasted the ball from the upper left corner of the box into the upper left corner of the goal on a direct kick.  Trinity nearly tied it in the 67th minute, as Ley and sophomore midfielder Martha Dane (Littleton, Mass.) worked the ball deep into Williams' end on the right side, and a scrum ensued in front of Schreiber before she knocked the ball out of harm's way.  Williams senior back Elizabeth Danhakl (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) shot wide left at an open net from close on the left wing late in the first half, for the only legitimate scoring opportunity of the opening stanza.

Trinity was held without a shot until eight minutes after intermission, but rallied top outshoot Williams, 8-7, in the second half.  Trinity junior goalie Lily Pepper (Princeton Junction, N.J.) had three saves in the first 45 minutes and Weedon made four stops after halftime.  Schreiber finished with four saves, all in the second half.
