Hartford, Conn. - Trinity senior Ryan Crapser
(Paxton, Mass.) and freshman Chris Menard
(Burlington, Mass.) scored two goals apiece to lead the
visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 6-4 win over the Colby
College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) men's ice hockey this afternoon on Williams Rink at the
Koeppel Community Sports Center. Trinity improves to 13-7-2
overall and 10-5-2 in the league while the Mules slip to 10-7-4 and
6-7-4 in the league.
Trinity held a 5-1 lead after two periods, but the Mules came
out on the offensive in the third, netting three straight goals to
cut the Trinity lead to just one with 5:25 remaining. In a
final period that featured a total of 47 minutes of penalty time,
the Bantams were able to take advantage of a late power play
situation, as Crapser would stop the bleeping with his second goal
of the contest with just fifteen seconds remaining on the clock, to
give Trinity a 6-4 lead, the eventual final.
Senior captain Richard Hollstein (Pembroke,
Mass.) scored a second period goal which would prove to be
the game-winner. Trinity sophomore defenseman Michael
DeMayo (Seaford, N.Y.) tallied his first goal of the
season and added an assist in the game, while Colby junior forward
Bill Crinnion (Long Island City, N.Y.) and
sophomore Michael Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.) each
notched a goal and an assist for the Mules. On top of his two
goals, Menard also added an assist for a three-point performance
this afternoon.
Trinity junior goalkeeper Wesley Vesprini (Lexington,
Mass.) made 32 saves for the Bantams while Colby junior
goalkeeper Cody McKinney (Lawrenceville, N.J.)
made 50 stops for the Mules.
Trinity returns to action on Fri., Feb. 19 for a 7 p.m. matchup
at the University of New England.
