Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore forward Celia
Colman-McGaw (Manchester, Conn.) notched two goals and one
assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 5-1 victory over
the visiting Connecticut College Camels in New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCA) women's ice hockey action this
evening at Williams Rink. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the
nation, improves to 18-3-2 overall and 10-3-2 in the NESCAC with
its fourth consecutive victory, while the Camels drop to 7-14-2
overall and 4-9-2 in the league with its second defeat in a
row. Trinity ties the College record for wins in a season and
clinches its best-ever regular season record with the
victory.
All of this evening's scoring took place in the first period,
beginning in the opening minute when Bantam senior tri-captain
goaltender Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) fed the
puck ahead to junior defender Laura Komarek (Plymouth,
Minn.), who dished from right to left to junior forward
Jill Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.) for the game's
first tally 24 seconds into the contest. Bantam sophomore
forward Hannah Harvey (Silverthorne, Colo.) scored
the eventual gamewinner 6:05 into the first from Harvey and
sophomore defender Dominique Di Dia, and Trinity rattled off two
more scores before Camel freshman forward Sam Schoeneberger
(Vernon, Conn.) scored on a breakaway with 2:14 left in
the first. Colman-McGaw quickly answered with her second goal
and third point of the frame, converting on Komarek's second assist
with 13 seconds on the clock.
Trinity junior tri-captain forward Kim Weiss (Potomac,
Md.) also had a goal and an assist, while Di Dia recorded
two assists to give her seven helpers in the last three games, and
Iwachiw finished with 35 saves. Senior forward Rachel
Lindmark (Andover, Mass.) assisted on the Connecticut
College goal, and Camel senior goalie Sara Christopher
