Hartford, Conn. – Senior midfielder Sarah Remes
(Silver Spring, Md.) scored five goals to lead the Trinity
College Bantams over the Endicott College Gulls 17-5 in
women's lacrosse action this afternoon on Robin Sheppard
Field. The Bantams, ranked No. 9 in the nation, improve to
2-0 in the early stage of the season, while Endicott, ranked No. 20
in the country, drops to 2-1.
Trinity junior Caitlin Irvine (Westwood, Mass.)
scored to open the game before Endicott junior Kellie
Cunningham (Derry, N.H.) would even the score at
1-1. Trinity regained the lead thanks to a goal from senior
Kristen Phelps (Sudbury, Mass.), before Endicott
sophomore Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) would
immediately answer in the high-scoring opening minutes of the
game. Remes would counter with back-to-back goals to spark a
12-2 Trinity run, leading the Bantams held a 14-3 lead at half.
Despite outscoring Trinity 3-2 in the second half, Endicott
could muster too little too late, as the Bantams eased their way to
their second straight win. Trinity sophomore goalkeeper
Stephanie Fisher (Brunswick, Maine) finished the
game with eight saves, allowing just five goals in net for the
Bantams, while Endicott sophomore Leah Neff (South Berwick,
Maine) finished with 10 saves for the Gulls.
Trinity welcomes NESCAC rival Bowdoin College at noon on Sat.,
Mar. 20.
