Box Score Clinton, N.Y. - Sophomore OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) hammered 22 kills and added 17 digs to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a five-set victory against Hamilton College Continentals in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball match at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Trinity, ranked No. 8 in New England, improves to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the NESCAC, and will complete its weekend NESCAC play against Williams College tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Hamilton.
None of the first four sets were particularly close (25-18, 16-25, 25-15, 15-25), but Trinity rallied to win the fifth, 15-12, in dramatic fashion. The Bantams trailed, 9-6, in the fifth and scored four straight points to grab a 10-9 edge. The Continentals tied the score at 10-10 and 11-11, but never led again.
Trinity junior OH Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) chipped in 11 kills and 19 digs for the winners, while senior co-captain S Jennifer Low (San Francisco, Calif.) was credited with 40 assists and 15 digs, senior L Sarah Blagden (Charleston, S.C.) led all players with 37 digs and senior Alexandra Pell (San Diego, Calif.) had 17 digs. Sophomore Clara Zinman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) served a match-high five aces. Trinity finished with nine aces, but 11 service errors almost proved to be costly.
Hamilton, which drops to 8-5 overall and 0-3 in the NESCAC, was led by Meredith Nuber and her 10 kills and five blocks. Megan McCareins smacked nine kills and came up with 23 digs. Sarah Pfund recorded 15 assists and 15 digs. Cecelie Pikus posted 14 digs, 11 assists and four aces. Anna Brown led the defense with a season-high 36 digs. Continentals play NESCAC matches against Wesleyan University and Williams on Saturday.
