Trinity Women's Ice Hockey Wins At Hamilton For Fifth Straight Victory

Clinton, N.Y. -  Freshman forward Emily Kleidon (Oakdale, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 win against the Hamilton College Continentals in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey game at Russell Sage Rink this evening.  Trinity, ranked No. 8 in the nation improevs to 16-3-4 overall and 9-3-3 in the NESCAC with its fifth consecutive victory, while Hamilton falls to 10-13 overall and 5-10 in the league.  The teams will meet again in the NESCAC Championship Quarterfinals at Trinity on Saturday, February 26.  Both teams close the regular season tomorrow with the Bantams visiting NESCAC rival Connecticut COllege and the Continentals hosting league foe Wesleyan.

The Bantams led, 1-0, and held a 10-to-2 shooting edge at the end of the first period.  Hamilton tied the game early in the second, but the Bantams took the lead for 1:34 later.
Senior forward Jill Roloff (West Seneca, N.Y.) and senior captain Kim Weiss (Potomac, Md.) chipped in one goal apiece, and rookie Alexa Pujol (New Canaan, Conn.) stopped 24 shots in goal for the Bantams.  Trinity junior Celia Colman-McGaw (Manchester, Conn.) and senior captain defender Laura Komarek (Plymouth, Minn.) each passed out one assist.  Abby Runyon was credited with one goal and Becca Hazlett made 30 saves for the Continentals.

Roloff gave the Bantams a 1-0 lead during a power play at 6:35 of the first period.  Colman-McGaw passed the puck to Roloff, who shot a one-timer that deflected off a Hamilton player into the back of the net.  The Continentals picked up the intensity in the second period and caught Pujole out of the net to tie the game, 1-1. As Pujol went behind the net to settle the puck, Runyon gained control and scored before the goalie could get back in position.  The Bantams quickly answered when Komarek found Kleidon for the clincher.  With 32 seconds left in the third period the Continentals pulled Hazlett for an extra player. Hamilton had one scoring opportunity before Trinity stretched their lead 3-1 on an empty netter with two seconds on the clock.
