Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Freshman defenseman Marko Brelih
(Toronto, Ontario) scored the game-winning goal on a hard
shot from the left face-off circle just 21 seconds into overtime to
lead the visiting Hamilton College Continentals to 2-1 victory over
the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this evening on
Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. Trinity
falls to 3-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NESCAC and ends a
three-game winning streak, while the Continentals improve to 1-3-1
overall and 1-2 in the league.
After a scoreless first period that saw Hamilton outshoot the
Bantams, 9-5, Trinity increased its pressure right out of the gate
in the second frame and scored when junior forward Will Gray (Wellesley,
Mass.) punched in his own rebound after receiving an
assist from sophomore blueliner Paul Burns (New Hope,
Pa.) 1:41 after the first break. Hamilton tied the
game with 10:50 left in regulation when senior forward
Anthony Ruberto (Stoney Creek, Ontario) was
credited with a goal that caromed off a Trinity player and scooted
past Trinity junior goalie Ben Coulthard
(South Windsor, Conn.) directly in front of the net.
Trinity senior captain forward Jeff Menard (Burlington,
Mass.), who put quality shots on Continental netminder
Joe Quatrocchi (Kanata, Ontario) all night, got
off a wrist shot in traffic with 33 seconds left in the third
period but was denied by the Continental junior with a high
save.

Trinity a 2-1 lead
Hamilton held a 31-23 edge on shots, although several Trinity
bids were expertly stopped by Quatrocchi, including two other glove
saves on shots by Jeff Menard and a one-on-one save against Trinity
senior captain Chris Menard
(Burlington, Mass.) with just under seven minutes left in
the first period. Ruberto earned an assist on the clinching
goal, while Quatrocchi finished with 22 saves against 29 stops for
Coulthard, who impressed with a save on a shot by Hamilton
Peter Michailidis (Stamford, Conn.) from
point-blank range early in the second period to keep the visitors
off the scoreboard to that point.
