Duncan Scores Four In Win Over Connecticut College

Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams raced to a 10-3 advantage at halftime and closed out the visiting Connecticut College Camels, 14-4, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's lacrosse action this evening on Sheppard Field.  Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the nation, improves to 6-0 with its 20th consecutive regular-season victory, while the Camels fall to 3-4 with their first loss in four games.

With the game tied at 1-1 following goals by Trinity senior co-captain midfielder Liz Bruno (Andover, Mass.) and Camel junior tri-captain attacker Libby Nichols (Baltimore, Md.) after eight minutes of play,. Trinity rattled off three unanswered tallies over the seven minutes for a 4-1 lead at the 16:50 mark.  Connecticut College senior tri-captain midfielder Katelyn Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) cut the Trinity led in half with 15:36 on the clock, but Bantam junior attacker Hadley Duncan (Rye, N.Y.) scored back-to-back unassisted goals and Bruno added an man-up tally to push the Bantam advantage back up to 7-2 with 4:36 left before the break.  Camel sophomore attacker Lowell Abbott (Manchester, Mass.) scored on a free position just over a minute later, but Trinity answered with six straight scores over nearly a 20-minute span to put the game out of reach.

Trinity more than doubled the Camel shot output with a 31-15 advantage and held a 20-to-11 edge on ground balls, while forcing 20 Connecticut College turnovers.  Duncan led all scorers with four goals, while senior attacker Caite Irvine (Westwood, Mass.) notched three goals and one assist, and sophomore attacker Shea Kusiak (Longmeadow, Mass.) added two goals and one assist.  Junior Olivia Whitney (Danvers, Mass.) and rookie Bridget Kitchen (North Andover, Mass.) made three saves apiece in the Bantam cage, while junior midfielder Megan Leonhard (Summit, N.J.) recorded team-highs of six ground balls, four draw controls, and four caused turnovers but did not score a goal for the first time in 17 games.  Four different Camels scored goals, while junior goalie Kelsey Burke (Atlanta, Ga.) had seven saves, and junior midfielder Caroline Corbett (Norwood, Mass.) registered three ground balls, three draw controls, and a game-high five caused turnovers for Connecticut College.
