Waterville, Maine - First-year forward Olivia Tapsall (Old Greenwich, Conn.) made the steal and the pass and senior forward Hadley Duncan (Rye, N.Y.) smacked in the goal with 13.7 seconds left to lift the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 win over the Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon at Bill Alfond Field.  The Bantams, ranked No. 17 in the nation, move to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while Colby falls to 3-4 overall and 0-4 in the league.
 
After Colby had battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the contest at 2-2, time was running out and overtime appeared to be a certainty. Tapsall, though, made a steal along the right sideline and ripped a pass to Duncan, who one-timed a shot for the game-winning goal.

The Bantams dominated the opening half with a 13-0 shot advantage and an 8-0 margin in penalty corners. The Mules hung tough and the game was scoreless until the final six minutes to intermission.  Duncan scored her first goal of the game off a penalty corner, with assists from senior co-captain midfielder Haley Thompson (Ipswich, Mass.) and junior defender Sarah Duncan (Dedham, Mass.). Duncan tipped in a shot from Thompson with 5:51 to halftime.
 
The Bantams went up 2-0 when sophomore Shannon Ryan (Freedom, N.H.) took advantage of an errant pass and rifled in a shot from in front just 1:59 after the first goal.  The Mules made a game of it quickly in the second half when Caitlin Murray (Chatham, N.J.) took a centering pass from Megan Fortier (Falmouth, Maine) and blasted in a shot after she had fallen down.  Murray tied the game at 62:19 on another hard shot after a well-executed penalty corner. Murray, playing up top, received the ball and immediately passed it to Ellie Donohue (Andover, Mass.) on the right side. Murray stepped up and took a return pass from Donohue and tied the contest.  Michelle Burt (Woodbridge, Conn.) stopped nine shots in goal for the Mules, while Trinity junior goalie Anne Marie Scalambrino (Chicago, Ill.) made two saves in the second half.
