Box Score Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Mules scored on a
power play with 4:10 to play in regulation, but the visiting
Trinity College Bantams pulled their goaltender and scored
with just 1:18 remaining to secure a 2-2 overtime tie in New
England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey
this evening at Alfond Rink. Trinity, unbeaten in its
last three games, is now 6-3-3 overall and 3-1-3 in the
NESCAC, while Colby moves to 3-10-1 overall and 1-7-1 in conference
play.
Nick Lanza scored his eighth goal of the season from Cory
McGrath and Scott Harff with 4:10 to play in regulation for a 2-1
Colby lead. After a Trinity timeout at 18:33, the Bantams
pulled junior goalie
Ben Coulthard (South Windsor, Conn.) for an
extra attacker. The move paid off just nine seconds later when
sophomore defenseman
Michael Flynn (Cheshire, Conn.) scored his
first goal of the season on a shot from the point, assisted by
classmate
Jackson Brewer (Newton, Mass.) and and senior forward
Jordan So (Toronto, Ontario).
The Bantams had taken a 1-0 lead after one period on
senior forward
Chris Menard's (Burlington, Mass.) sixth goal of the
season from twin brother
Jeffrey Menard (Burlington, Mass.) and
first-year forward Jim Burt (Hamden, Conn.). The Mules tied the
game in the second period when Lanza scored with just 1:37 to play
from McGrath and Ben Chwick, who had his team-best ninth
assist. Colby goalie Jordan Nathan stopped 15 of his 35 saves
in the second period, while Coulthard had seven stops in overtime
among his 29 saves.
