Box Score Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams offense completed a 17-goal weekend with a 7-3 win over the visiting University of New England Nor'easters in women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The win puts Trinity at 5-4-3 overall, while the Nor'easters drop to 1-8 on the season.
After a ten goal performance last night by the Trinity offense, sophomore Lucy Robinson (Toronto, Ontario) started the game with a dazzling deflection goal off a slapshot by senior tri-captain defender Britney Ryan (Highlands Ranch, Colo.). Trinity held a 13-3 shot advantage in the first and stayed aggressive throughout.

Trinity sophomore Lauren Fitzgerald (Milton, Mass.) opened the second period with a goal of her own. Despite a 14-4 shot advantage in the second period for Trinity, the Nor'easters made things interesting, scoring back-to-back goals to tie the game at 2-2, 6:47 into the frame. New England junior co-captain Jenni Poulin (Pembroke, N.H.) and rookie Kayleigh Trepanier (Lebanon, Maine) netted the Nor'easter goals.
The tie didn't last long, as Trinity rookie Emma Tani (Orange, Calif.) put the Bantams back on top, 3-2, with her score coming 13:37 into the period. Trinity gained back Trinity's two-goal advantage, when junior Abby Ostrom (Carlisle, Mass.) received a long pass from the Trinity defense and found herself in a breakaway with under 10 seconds left in the period. Ostrom made a nifty stick move and fired off a point blank shot, which was denied by New England first-year goalie Samantha Scobee (Minnetrista, Minn.), before Ostrom picked up the rebound and was successful on her second try, with just four tics showing the clock.
Trinity gained some breathing space early in the third with a goal by junior Emily Kleidon (Oakdale, Minn.) to put the Bantams on top, 5-2, but the scoring was not over yet. Two Trinity penalties gave New England a five-on-three power play advantage, which the Nor'easters were able to capitalize off of, with a goal by first-year Shannon Reynolds (Belmont, Mass.) to cut the lead back to two goals. Trinity first-year Brooke Heron (South Salem, N.Y.) and senior Rebecca Rosen (Syosset, N.Y.) added two more goals for the Bantams, which was enough to solidify Trinity's second straight win.
Trinity outshot New England 47-11 in the contest. Trinity senior goalkeeper Beth Hitchcock (Glencoe, Ill.) made eight saves in the game in her first start this season. Hitchcock, who has three shutouts in five career starts, improves her collegiate record in net to 5-0-0. Scobee made 35 saves for the Nor'easters.
