Middlebury, Vt. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams suffered a 2-0 loss to the Middlebury College Panthers in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 23 in the nation, falls to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the NESCAC with its second loss in a row.  Middlebury, ranked No. 14 nationally, takes over possession of first place in the NESCAC standings with a 5-1 league mark and a 7-1-2 overall record. 

Middlebury opened the scoring at the 18:42 mark with the third of the year from Julia Favorito. The senior scored on the Panthers' first shot of the game, launching a 25-yarder over Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) for the 1-0 advantage.  Trinity had a great chance to tie the game in the 28th minute as sophomore forward Abbey Lake (Westport, Conn.) carried the ball down the field before her left-footed blast hit the crossbar.  Middlebury had a great chance of its own late in the half when Molly Parizeau found Jamie Soroka just outside the 18. Soroka beat two defenders before her strong shot was denied by DiFiori.

Middlebury made it a 2-0 game just 2:15 into the second session. Moria Sloan netted her first of the year with a lengthy blast from 40 yards out on the left side that found its way over DeFiori and into the back of the net.  The Panthers finished with a slim 7-5 shots advantage as Elizabeth Foody made three saves in goal to earn her third shutout of the season.  DiFiori stopped two shots for Trinity.
