Box Score New London, Conn. - First-year forward Andi Nicholson (Grafton,
Mass.) scored a goal in each half to lead the visiting Trinity
College women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory at Connecticut
College. The Bantams, ranked No. 7 in New England,
improve their record to 10-3 overall with a 6-3 mark in the New
England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), while the
Camels fall to 3-7-3 with a 1-6-2 mark in league action.
Trinity sophomore Abbey Lake (Westport, Conn.) scored her
seventh goal of the season while classmate Julia Leahy (Hingham,
Mass.) chipped in with a score, and junior back Maggie Crowe
(Hingham, Mass.) dished out two assists. Connecticut College
sophomore Libby Thomas (Cumberland, Maine) opened the scoring in
the 13th minute of action with an assist coming from senior Rebecca
Raymond (Lowell, Mass.). With 15:54 remaining in the half,
the visitors scored the equalizer when Crowe delivered a long lead
pass to Lake out in front of the net for a score. In the 40th
minute of play, Nicholson re-directed a shot from junior
tri-captain midfielder Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) at the six-yard
line that found the back of the net for a goal to put the visitors
on top for good with a 2-1 advantage.
In the 55th minute of action, Leahy netted a high arching shot
to make it a 3-1 contest. Nicholson closed things out with a nifty
1-on-1 move to make it a 4-1 game in the 64th minute of
action. Sophomore Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.)
finished with four saves for the Bantams.Connecticut College junior
Natalie Signor (Glastonbury, Conn.) played the opening half without
recording a save for the hosts. Bella Hall (Manhattan Beach,
Calif.) stopped three shots in the second stanza. Shots were
even at 10 aside. The visitors held a 6-to-4 edge in corner
kicks.
